About the project

Small experiments on very online behavior.

NicheLab is a public data lab for fun surveys, interactive experiments, and visual stories about gaming, hype, fandoms, and internet culture.

The goal is not to publish perfect academic studies. The goal is to collect interesting, transparent, self-selected internet data and turn it into entertaining, understandable data stories.

What happens here?

Visitors can take short surveys or participate in small browser-based experiments. The results are analyzed and later published as visual data stories.

What kind of topics?

Important limitation

Most samples are self-selected. That means the results should not be read as representative of all people or all gamers. They are best understood as exploratory snapshots of specific online communities.

Why take part?

Because your answer becomes part of a larger story. Results are shown only in aggregate, and the aim is to make data feel fun, visual, and accessible.
